On October 8, 2012, at 8:25 P.M., the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a structure fire at 104 S. Oak St. in the Village of North Freedom. This structure is the former North Freedom School which has been converted to apartments. The fire quickly spread throughout the structure and was determined to be a total loss after it was extinguished. Four families were displaced as a result of the fire.

Assisting agencies involved in the fire included the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, North Freedom Fire Dept., Baraboo Fire Dept., Reedsburg Fire Dept., Baraboo District Ambulance, and the Salvation Army.
