Motorcycle Crash

On May 3, 2014 at 1205 PM The Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a single motorcycle crash on USH 12, just north of Waterbury Road in the Township of Sumpter. Sauk County Sheriff's Deputies, Sauk City Fire Department and Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service were immediately sent to the scene.
The investigation revealed that a 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by Richard P. Hurley, age 58, of Wisconsin Dells, was northbound on USH 12 coming negotiating a curve just north of Waterbury Road when he lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in the crash. The motorcycle slid for approximately 100 feet, ejecting Hurley in the process. Hurley was not wearing a helmet and he sustained non life threatening head injuries. Hurley was the only person on the motorcycle. There was a strong cross wind that may have been a contributing factor in Hurley losing control of the motorcycle. Alcohol is not a factor in this crash.
Hurley was transported from the scene by Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service to UW Hospital in Madison.
