Motor Vehicle vs. Pedestrian - Fatality **Update - Names Released**

**Update - The name of the vehicle operator involved in this crash is Mikayla Seguin, age 17 of North Freedom, Wisconsin. The name of the deceased pedestrian involved in this crash is Zane Reilly, age 25 of Edgerton, Wisconsin. **

 

On Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 at approximately 7:44 AM the Sauk County Dispatch Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 23 south of Valley View Road in the township of Franklin. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian who was part of a utility crew performing work in the area and that the male worker was deceased.

First responding deputies on scene located the crash between a 2003 Toyota Highlander and a 2012 Ford F450 with a utility trailer attached loaded with equipment. Preliminary investigation showed that the utility worker, a 25 year old male from Edgerton, WI was outside the vehicle attempting to offload equipment when he was struck by the southbound Highlander. After the initial impact the Highlander continued south down the roadway before rolling over and coming to rest in the middle of the southbound lane. The male worker was also found lying in the southbound lane deceased. The driver of the Highlander, a 17 year old female from North Freedom, WI remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family members. The highway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the Sheriff's Office investigated.

The Sauk County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members of the Plain Fire Department, Plain Ambulance Service, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sauk County Highway Department.
