Missing Person

Special News Release
 
On Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 5:45 pm Sauk County Communication Center was notified of a missing person. The caller reported that his uncle had attended a wedding reception at the Rock Springs Community Center Saturday night and said he would walk home after the reception.   His nephew stated that his uncle was not at his residence and that he could not find anything that indicated he had been home.
 
Upon arrival of the deputy the missing person was identified Frank O. Shimniok, age 57, of Rock Springs.  The family informed the deputy they had retraced what they believe would have been Mr. Shimniok's route walking home.  They further stated he has walked home in the past and always walks along CTK DD to his residence south of the Village of Rock Springs.  The Deputy was told that the family had located what they believed was Mr. Shimniok's hat and his glasses along CTK DD on opposite sides of the highway.
 
Deputies and the Rock Springs Fire Department search the area from Rock Springs to Mr. Shimniok residence but were unable to located Mr. Shimniok on Sunday evening.  
 
On Monday, October 7th the Sauk County Dive Team began searching the Baraboo River which runs along the east side of CTK DD near where his glasses were found.
