Highland Road Crash

NEWS RELEASE

TRAFFIC CRASH – TOWN OF WESTFIELD

On February 24, 2017 at 11:17 p.m., the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a single vehicle traffic crash on Highland Road at South Line Road in the Town of Westfield.  The initial report was of a single vehicle crash with one subject ejected from the vehicle.  Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, the Plain Ambulance Service, and the Plain Fire Department were immediately sent to the scene.

The initial investigation revealed that a 1997 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound on Highland Road traveling downhill on an ice and snow covered roadway.  The Ford failed to stop at a stop sign and attempted to make a right turn at the intersection with South Line Road.  The Ford entered the south ditch and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels.  The operator of the Ford, a 21 year old female from Loganville, WI, was ejected from the Ford and sustained life-threatening injuries.  She was transported to UW Hospital by Plain Ambulance Service.  The passenger, a 30 year old male from Loganville, WI, was uninjured.  Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.  Speed relative to roadway conditions appears to be a factor in this crash.  Alcohol or drug use is not a suspected factor.  The names of the operator and passenger are being withheld pending notification of family.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Plain Ambulance Service, Plain Fire Department, Spring Green EMS, and the Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service.  The crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
