Felony OWI 6TH and Methamphetamine Arrest

Felony OWI 6TH and Methamphetamine Arrest

On Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at approximately 1:18am a Sauk County sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on Commerce Ave at CTH W in the City of Baraboo.  A registration check of the vehicle showed that the vehicle owner had an expired driver’s license. The operator of the vehicle, who was not the registered owner was identified as James A. Malitz, age 51 of North Freedom. The Deputy observed signs of impairment and administered field sobriety tests to Malitz.  The tests showed evidence of impairment.  A preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration greater than permitted by law.  Malitz has 5 prior convictions for Operating While Intoxicated.

Malitz was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated 6th Offense, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Operating after revocation.

Operating While Intoxicated 6th Offense and Possession of Methamphetamine are both felony charges in Wisconsin.
