Fatal Traffic Crash

News Release

On Wednesday, February 17th, 2016, at about 9:37 a.m. the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a one vehicle rollover crash on CTH PF west of 21st Street in the Township of Prairie du Sac.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, operated by Patrick Gott, age 52, of Prairie du Sac, was traveling east on CTH PF and drifted off the roadway on the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a driveway and overturned. Mr. Gott was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle in the crash.

Mr. Gott was transported from the scene by Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service and later pronounced dead by a Med Flight doctor that was called to the scene.

The reason for the departure from the roadway is unknown, although witnesses to the crash reported that it was not a sudden movement but rather a gradual path that the vehicle took from the roadway.

An autopsy performed on Thursday, February 18th revealed the cause of death to be due to blunt force trauma due to the vehicular collision.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Sauk Prairie Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Sauk City Fire Department, Sauk Prairie Ambulance service, and the Sauk County Coroner’s Office.
