Emergency Landing

Emergency Landing – Town of Spring Green

On Wednesday June 22, 2022 at approximately 6:06p.m., The Sauk County Communications Center received a call reporting an aircraft had landed at Tri-County Regional Airport and over shot the runaway, coming to rest in a field. Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were immediately dispatched to the incident location.

Upon arrival, Deputies located a small airplane in a field to the south of Tri-County Regional Airport. The pilot of the plane, who was identified as Jacob R Ruotsinoja of Hugo, MN, stated the plane’s engine failed forcing him to make an emergency landing. Jacob was able to land the plane, however, due to the runaway being short and not having engine power, Jacob was not able to get the plane stopped prior to the end of the runway. The plane crossed over Mercer Road and came to rest in a field to the south of the airport. Jacob was not injured and there was no damage to the plane.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
