Drug Search Warrants - Prairie du Sac / Merrimac Area

On Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, the Sauk County Drug Task Force executed two drug related search warrants in the Prairie du Sac and Merrimac areas.  One at a residence on Gruber’s Grove Road in the Town of Sumpter, and one at a residence on Baltic Avenue near the Sauk/Columbia County line.  The searches were conducted in connection with an on-going investigation into the use and distribution of methamphetamine and other drugs, and in response to community concerns. During the searches Investigators located and seized illegal drugs and controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and firearms

As a result, the below criminal charges, against Joseph M. Wiatrowski, 37, of Merrimac, are being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office

-Delivery of methamphetamine > 3 grams

-Possession of cocaine

-Possession of drug paraphernalia

-Maintaining a drug trafficking place

-Felon in possession of a firearm

-Bail jumping

-Sex offender registry violation

This investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges are possible, against Wiatrowski, and others involved. The Sauk County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Reedsburg Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Baraboo Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Wisconsin Dells Police Department, Spring Green Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Wisconsin Nation Guard Counter-Drug Program. Additional assistance was provided by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office
