Drug Investigation

On September 19th, 2014, The Sauk County Drug Task Force was asked to assist Probation and Parole Agents with apprehending Michael E. Nemitz, who had an active apprehension request for his arrest from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Community Corrections. Agents also relayed to Law Enforcement that they had received information that Nemitz was currently manufacturing methamphetamine at a residence, which is also his place of employment, on LaValle Road in northern Sauk County. Nemitz was previously found guilty of possession of methamphetamine second or subsequent offense in Dane County on May 22nd, 2014. Nemitz was sentenced to three years of probation on this case.

Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Community Corrections and Detectives from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office responded to Nemitz’s address on LaValle Road at about 1:30 p.m. on September 19, 2014. Upon arrival Nemitz was spotted near an outbuilding and fled from officers on an ATV. Probation Agents began a search of an outbuilding on the property and located what they believed to be methamphetamine.  Items believed to have been used in the production of methamphetamine were also observed through the windows in a vehicle belonging to Nemtiz that was parked outside of this outbuilding.

The scene was turned over to the Sauk County Drug Task Force and search was conducted of the outbuilding and two vehicles. Detectives located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and items that were used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Items located in one of the vehicles searched are commonly used in the “one pot” production method of manufacturing methamphetamine. These items are considered hazardous materials so the Wisconsin Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team was called. A representative from the CLEAR Team arrived and removed items from the vehicle that was considered hazardous.

Nemitz currently has an active arrest warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Community Corrections , and is wanted on new charges that are being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.  These charges include; possession of methamphetamine, manufacture methamphetamine, obstructing an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This Investigation is on-going and anyone with information on the above crime or any other crime is encouraged to contact Sauk County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-TIP-SAUK (1-888-847-7285).

The Sauk County Drug Task Force consists of members from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Baraboo Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department, Reedsburg Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Spring Green / Plain Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
