Driver Arrested For OWI After Driving The Wrong Way On A Divided Highway.

On 12/16/17 at approximately 7:10 A.M., the Sauk County 9-1-1 Center received over a dozen 9-1-1 calls of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on USH 12 near Old Bluff Trail.  The vehicle continued in the wrong lanes for approximately 6 miles until the operator pulled off onto Ski Hi Rd.  Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the operator who was identified as Monica Rose Johnson, age 21, from Stoughton.  Johnson told deputies that she did not know what highway she was on and that she was “drunk” and just driving.  Several witness reported that they had to take evasive action to avoid a head on crash with Johnson’s vehicle.

Johnson was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail.  Johnson was charged with Operating A Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Open Intoxicants In A Motor Vehicle, and Driving The Wrong Way On A Dived highway.
