Devils Lake Accident
On June 1, 2014 at approximately 4:00 am the Sauk County Communications Center was notified that a tree had fallen on a tent in the Ice Age Campground of Devils Lake State Park. Devils Lake Park Rangers, Sauk County Sheriff's Deputies, Baraboo Fire Department, and Baraboo Ambulance were immediately sent to the scene.
Responders arrived to find a father and his 11 year old daughter trapped underneath the tree that had fallen onto their tent during a storm. A 14 year old boy was able to climb out afer the accident. Baraboo Fire Department Personnel were able to free the subjects from entrapment. The father and 14 year old were transported to St. Clare Hospital by Baraboo Ambulance. The 11 year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by Sauk County Coroner Greg Hahn.
Names are being withheld pending notification of relatives. This incident remains under investigation by the Department of Natural Resources Devils Lake State Park.
