Deputy Fiske Lifesave Award

LIFE SAVING AWARDS

May 29, 2015

Recently Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister awarded Deputy Chad Fiske a Lifesaving award for his actions while on duty.

Deputy Fiske received the award for the following action:

“While doing rounds in B126 Deputy Fiske noticed the inmate lying on his back in his bunk, seemingly asleep, however he had a large amount of saliva/phlegm near his mouth.  His chest was still rising and falling, but something didn't seem right.   He thought it looked odd and called for the door and his partner to come to the cell.  Upon entering he found the inmate had tied a sock around his neck and knotted it multiple times in a fairly good attempt to choke himself.  He removed it, the inmate was breathing on his own, and medical and subsequently EMS was called.  The inmate was transported to St. Clare and then to UW Madison via med flight.  Last we were told, he may be discharged today.”

Good training and experience are a big help in any job, but at the core it takes a quality employee to perform at the necessary level.  I am honored to issue this lifesaving award pin for Deputy Fiske's actions.
