CTH K Crash
On May 29, 2014 at approximately 8:00pm the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a single vehicle roll-over crash on CTH K near the intersection of Pickel Road in the Township of Ironton. Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies and Reedsburg Fire and Ambulance Departments were immediately sent to the scene.
Responders arrived to find the operator, who was the lone vehicle occupant, was ejected and a bystander was performing CPR on him.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Gerald L. Carlson, age 37, of Gary, Indiana, was eastbound on CTH K at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse while negotiating a curve. The vehicle entered the north ditch where it overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its top. Carlson was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected.
Carlson was pronounced dead at the scene by Sauk County Coroner Greg Hahn. Carlson was not wearing his seatbelt and speed was a factor in this crash. This incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
