News Release

On July 31, 2015 at 9:04pm the Sauk County Communications Center received a call regarding a multiple vehicle crash with subjects trapped on CTH H near Drover’s Pass in the Township of Winfield.  Deputies responded and found 3 vehicles involved.  Witnesses at the scene reported that a westbound white SUV passed a Lincoln Towncar and Toyota near a curve.  The SUV then reportedly may have struck an eastbound pickup truck, causing the pickup to collide head-on with the Towncar.  It’s believed the pickup then slid into the Toyota, after which it came to rest in the ditch.  The white SUV didn’t stop and continued west towards Reedsburg.

The driver and passenger of the pickup, driver and passenger of the Toyota and passenger of the Towncar were all transported to Reedsburg Memorial Hospital by Reedsburg Area Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Towncar was pronounced dead at the scene by Sauk County Coroner Greg Hahn.  The names of those involved are not being released at this time.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Reedsburg Police Department, Reedsburg Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Reedsburg Area Ambulance and Sauk County Highway Department.  This crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.  Anyone with any information regarding this crash, especially pertaining to the white SUV, is asked to call Sauk County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-TIP-SAUK, (1-888-847-7285), or the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department at 1-608-356-4895.
