Cabin Fire in the Township of Spring Green
News Release
June 10, 2013
On June 6, 2013, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire on CTH JJ in the Township of Spring Green. Investigating officers learned that the cabin owner, Clarion Goytowski, age 82, from Pewaukee, was pumping a lantern at which time he dropped the lantern causing an explosion. Goytowski was severely burned as a result of the explosion but managed to walk to his neighbor's residence to seek help. The neighbors transported Goytowski to the Richland Center Hospital. Goytowski was later transferred to UW Hospital in Madison. On June 7, 2013, Goytowski died as a result of his injuries. The structure was also a total loss.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spring Green Fire Department and Spring Green EMS.
