Burglary Arrests - Town of Fairfield

On Tuesday, May 9th, 2017, The Sauk County Sheriff’ Office received a report of a thefts from vehicles parked at a residence in the Township of Fairfield. One vehicle was parked in the driveway and the other was parked in the garage. Among other things missing from the vehicles were credit and debit cards.

While taking the complaint, the Deputy found that one or more of the cards that had been stolen had already been used at businesses in the Cities of Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo. Through further investigation, identification of the suspects involved was made.

The suspects were located driving between the Village of Lake Delton and City of Baraboo and stopped. Stolen items from the vehicles and merchandise that had been purchased with the stolen cards were located in the vehicle. The suspects were interviewed and subsequently confessed to being involved in the Burglary and the Thefts and they provided information about the whereabouts of other stolen items.

The two suspects in this case were taken to the Sauk County Jail and booked for the below charges;

Aaron K. Sowieja – 34 years old – Baraboo address  was charged with Burglary, Fraudulent use of a Financial Transaction Card, Theft of Moveable Property and Felony Bail jumping. He is also being held on a Parole Violation from prior Theft and Burglary convictions.

Alex Melton, 30 years old, Wisconsin Dells address was charged with Burglary, Fraudulent use of a Financial Transaction Card and Felony Bail jumping.

It is expected that the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office will be charging these suspects with additional criminal offenses in the Criminal Complaint.

The Wisconsin Dells, Lake Delton and Portage Police Departments assisted the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
