Armed Robbery

On Sunday, April 18th 2021 at approximately 2:20 AM the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a robbery which had just occurred in the Township of Baraboo. The victim alleged that a male, who the victim knew as Timothy M. McEvoy, age 28 of Baraboo, entered the victim’s residence and was asking for money.

After telling the McEvoy there was no money, the victim reported that McEvoy had motioned outside to a female accomplice who delivered him a backpack. The victim reported that McEvoy reached into the backpack and removed a handgun and continued demanding money after displaying the handgun, eventually grabbing a purse from the counter and fleeing to a vehicle in the parking lot.

The victim ran out to the parking lot and recognized the female driver as Briana L. Herzer, age 23 of Baraboo. Both McEvoy and Herzer left the area in the vehicle.  Deputies responded to the area to investigate the robbery and search for the suspects.

Approximately twenty minutes later the suspect vehicle was located and stopped in the City of Baraboo by the Baraboo Police Department. Contact was made with the sole occupant of the vehicle, who was identified as Herzer. Herzer was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail on a probation hold from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Herzer will be charged with Obstructing an officer and Armed Robbery as a Party to a Crime.  Sauk County Sheriff’s deputies and officers of the Baraboo Police Department continued to search for McEvoy who was not located.

On 04/19/2021, officers from the Baraboo Police Department located and arrested McEvoy in the City of Baraboo on several unrelated outstanding warrants. McEvoy will be charged with Armed Robbery for the April 18th incident.
