RESOLUTION NO. _____ - 2017

AUTHORIZING TO CONTRACT WITH JOHNSON CONROLS INC. TO COMPLETE THE TEARDOWN AND RE-GASKETING OF CHILLER #2 AT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER

Background: Sauk County owns two Trane Water Cooled CenTraVac chillers that take care of the cooling for the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center (LEC). LEC Chiller #1 was rebuilt in August 2016 due to a motor failure. Typically, the manufacturer recommends that a complete teardown and re-gasketing be completed every 7 to 10 years to avoid potential leaks, which could severely damage the unit causing considerable down-time and/or replacement of the chillers. LEC Chiller #2 was last rebuilt in 2011, and instead of having the rebuilds on the chillers spaced far apart, the Facilities Director budgeted in the 2018 Building Services budget for a complete machine teardown, re-gasketing and replacement of the motor on Chiller #2 at the LEC. Building Services Facilities Director requested proposals from qualified vendors for the teardown, re-gasketing, and replacement of the motor for Chiller #2 at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center.

WHEREAS, the Property & Insurance Committee has reviewed the bids and recommends it to be in the best interest of Sauk County to accept the bid from Johnson Controls Inc. to complete the rebuild and install a new control panel on Chiller #2 at a cost of $70,250.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, hereby authorizes the Building Services Facilities Director to contract with Johnson Controls Inc. to rebuild and install a new motor and control panel on Chiller #2 at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center at a cost of $70,250.

For consideration by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors on December 19, 2017.

Respectfully submitted,

PROPERTY AND INSURANCE COMMITTEE
