RESOLUTION NO. _____ - 2017

AUTHORIZING TO CONTRACT WITH HILL’S WIRING INC. TO UPGRADE  THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO SUPPORT A UPS IN THE DATA CENTER AT THE SAUK COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER

Fiscal Impact: [ ] None [ X ] Budgeted Expenditure [ ] Not Budgeted

Background: Sauk County Management Information Systems (MIS) is building redundancy in the counties data network, by housing a second Data Center at the Law Enforcement Center. The Law Enforcement Center has an emergency generator for back up power. In order to meet current electrical code requirements an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) must be installed inline with the electrical system to make sure no interruption in service will occur while the generator gets up to full power should the facility lose line power. An Electrical Coordination study was completed to design the system to meet all current electrical code requirements for a second Data Center. The Coordination study was shared with vendors to bid the electrical upgrade to the current Data Room at the Law Enforcement Center. Hill’s Wiring Inc. was the only vendor to respond with a proposal.

WHEREAS Hill’s Wiring Inc. proposes to upgrade the current electrical systems at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center for a second Data Center at the cost of $29,825.35; and,

WHEREAS The Property and Insurance Committee has reviewed this matter and found it in the best interest of Sauk County to accept Hill’s Wiring quote to update the electrical system for a second Data Center at the Law Enforcement Center; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, hereby authorizes the Building Services Facilities Director to contract with Hill’s Wiring Inc. for $29,825.35 for the upgrade of the current electrical systems at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center for a second Data Center to run the counties data network.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Buildings Services Facilities Director is hereby authorized to approve change orders for any potential unforeseen conditions and so long as such change orders individually do not exceed $10,000.00, so long as budget dollars are available for those changes.

For consideration by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors on December 19, 2017.

Respectfully submitted,

PROPERTY AND INSURANCE COMMITTEE
