The Landmarks Commission has received a request from property owner, Catherine J. Flaherty for the Bank of Spring Green AUTOBANK Building located at 259 East Jefferson Street, Spring Green, Wisconsin 53988 for inclusion on the Sauk County Landmarks Register. The building was designed and constructed in 1982 by architect William Wesley Peters, (June 12, 1912 – July 17, 1991) of Taliesin Associated Architects, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

The building essentially consists of three unified and attached components:  1) An enclosed portion with 610 square feet of interior space; 2) a vehicle drive-thru area covered by a long canopy that abuts the exterior of the enclosed portion of the building; and 3) a rear exterior “courtyard” that abuts the north-end of the exterior of the enclosed portion of the building.  Consistent with Frank Lloyd Wright’s principles, there is a visual continuity between the three components of the building, making them a unified whole in appearance.  See attached Exhibits A and B.
