Purpose

BACKGROUND: As part of the building of the new Baraboo Highway Facility, a state-of-the-art county data center is being located within the new facility. A redundant County Fiber line is needed to keep the data center passing network traffic should an issue arise.  The redundant path will provide county network to the new Highway Department facility from the Lake Delton tower site and from the Courthouse.  The proposed fiber optics path will not impact the use of the existing Highway Department driveway.  American Rescue Plan Act funds will be used to cover the construction and connection costs at a cost not to exceed in the amount of $129,848.95.  Building Services will be coordinating the project with Reedsburg Utility Commission for the joint build at a cost of $102,003.75, engineering and project management at a cost of $8,945.20, and $10,500.00 for fiber splicing costs.  Sauk County is purchasing (12) vaults at a cost of $8,400.00 which are needed as a part of the project.
