PROJECT INFORMATION

The Sauk County Highway Department is proposing to improve the safety of approximately 3.5
miles of CTH HH from CTH H to the Juneau County Line. See the attached project location map.
There have been a high number of crashes along this section of roadway. The run-off the road
crash rate for this section of CTH HH is 168 crashes per hundred million vehicle miles traveled
(HMVMT). The run-off the road crash rate with severity K (fatality), A (incapacitating injury), or
B (non-incapacitating injury) is 45 crashes per HMVMT.

Proposed improvements include:
1) Installing grooved epoxy edgeline pavement markings
2) Installing centerline rumble strips
3) Installing specified horizontal curve warning signs
4) Paving the inside and outside shoulders of specific horizontal curves

PROPOSED TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the Spring/Summer of 2024 and is expected to be
completed within 4-5 weeks.

CTH HH will remain open to thru traffic during construction through the use of flagging
operations. Temporary driveway closures may be necessary during parts of the construction
process. Construction staff will contact homeowners and businesses in advance before closing a
driveway. If you have special access needs during construction please let us know so these can
be considered as much as possible and, if needed, included in the bidding documents.

REAL ESTATE

No real estate acquisitions are anticipated for this project.
