Two Vehicle Crash on USH 12

Two Vehicle Crash HWY 12 – Town of Baraboo

On June 7, 2012, at approximately 6:55 PM, the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving multiple vehicles on US HWY 12 south of Mine Rd in the Township of Baraboo. Sauk County Sheriff's Deputies, Baraboo District Ambulance Service and the Baraboo Fire Department were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The initial investigation showed that a vehicle being operated by Tessa L. Linville, age 24, of Baraboo, WI was traveling north on US HWY 12, crossed the center line and nearly struck a southbound motorcycle being operated by Gayle Draves, of Reedsburg, WI. Linville in her attempt to gain control of her vehicle overcorrected and traveled back into the southbound lane and struck a southbound pickup head on that was being operated by Brian D. Studebaker, age 46, of Baraboo, WI.

As a result of the collision, Linville was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by the Baraboo Fire Department. The drivers of both vehicles, and Linville's two young children, Rylan Troia, age 1 and Violet Troia, age of 4 months, were transported to St. Claire Hospital in Baraboo. Linville was later med-flighted to UW Madison Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Seat belts and child restraints were being used by everyone involved in the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the incident is still under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Office. The Sauk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Baraboo District Ambulance Service and Baraboo Fire Department.
