Two Vehicle Crash - Fatality

On Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 at approximately 9:56 AM Sauk County Dispatch received a report of a multi vehicle crash on State Highway 33 near the intersection with Demaskie Road in the township of LaValle. The initial report was of a two vehicle head on style crash with airbag deployment.

First responding personnel on scene located the crash between a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2011 Ford Fusion with both vehicles having sustained severe front end damage. The Fusion was blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 33 and the Traverse was in the ditch to the west of the roadway. The driver of the Traverse, a 68 year old male from Wilton, WI was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by responding medical personnel. The driver of the Fusion, a 22 year old female from Hillsboro, was transported via medflight directly to UW-Madison. A 1 year old child in the car was taken via ambulance to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. 

The roadway was closed for several hours while Sauk County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated the crash scene. Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of families and the crash remains under investigation. 

Assisting the sheriff's office at the crash scene were members of the LaValle Fire Department, LaValle First Responders, Town of LaValle Police Department, Wonewoc EMS, Reedsburg EMS, UW MedFlight, the Sauk County Highway Shop and the Sauk County Coroner's Office.
