Traffic Accidents and Other Sheriff's Department Reports Now Available Online

03/24/10

Starting today any accidents that have been investigated by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department since March 18th, 2010 will be available for the public to view and print online.

“With Sauk County’s new website design we were able to work with the County MIS Department to make the Sheriff’s Department web page more informative.” said Chief Deputy Chip Meister. The public can go to the county’s web page at www.co.sauk.wi.us and click on the Sheriff’s Department link, then click on the link for Traffic Accidents and select the month you are looking for. Only the MV4000 report is online, if the public wants photos or other documentation from the accident investigation, those requests will have to be made by calling 355-3211 or faxing the request to 355-3298. The online MV 4000 is available at no cost.

In the near future, the public will be able to view the Sauk County Jail daily inmate count, as well as the number of beds rented to other jurisdictions. The monthly Department of Corrections (DOC) which records revenues and expenses associated with the DOC contract will also be viewable on the Sheriff’s Department web page. This is the report that is distributed to the Law Enforcement and Finance Committees on a monthly basis.
