Town of Reedsburg Crash

**Special News Release**

On July 18, 2011 at approximately 10:10 am the Sauk County Communications Center received a call of a multiple vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH K and Twin Pine Road in the Township of Reedsburg. It was also reported that multiple persons were injured as a result of this crash.
Sheriff’s Deputies, Reedsburg Police Department Officers, Reedsburg Ambulance, and Reedsburg Fire were immediately sent to the scene. Due to the number of injured persons, Cazenovia Ambulance, Dells-Delton Ambulance, and Baraboo Ambulance were requested to assist.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Saturn, operated by Emily Spink, age 24, of Fond Du Lac, WI, turned eastbound onto CTH K from Twin Pine Road, into the path of a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan, operated by Geary Portell, age 59, of Desoto, MO. There were six other passengers in the Spink vehicle, and six other passengers in the Portell vehicle. A total of fourteen people were transported to Reedsburg Area Medical Center by the above listed Ambulance Services. Additionally, Spink was transported to UW Madison Hospital.
All of the persons in the Portell vehicle were wearing seatbelts. Spink and three other passengers in her vehicle were wearing their seatbelts; however, three other passengers, two riding illegally, were not wearing their seatbelts. Spink has been cited for Operating After Suspension 2nd Offense, and for Failure to Yield Right of Way from Stop Sign Causing Injury. This incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
