Town of Delton Crash

On June 3, 2011 at 1:41 pm, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle crash on USH 12 just north of the intersection of STH 33 in the Town of Delton. Upon arrival of the deputies, two vehicle were located in the north bound lane each occupied by one person.


The investigation into the crash showed that a south bound Toyota was being driven by Spencer L. Galmitz, age 31 of Mazomanie, crossed into the north bound lane striking the Saturn driven by Julie A. Winn, age 33 of New Lisbon. Galmitz stated that he dropped his cell phone and was attempting to retrieve it when he crossed the center line. Upon realizing what was happening Galmitz stated that he was unable to avoid striking the other car.
 

Galmitz and Winn suffered facial and leg injuries. Galmitz was transferred to St Clare’s Hospital in Baraboo for his injuries by Dells-Delton Ambulance. Winn, who had to be extricated from her vehicle, was flown by “Med Flight” air ambulance to University Hospital in Madison.


Delton Fire Department and Dells-Delton EMS assisted at the scene with the injured drivers. Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Sheriff’s Department with the accident investigation. Winn and Galmitz were wearing their seat belts. The accident is still under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
