Suspect Identified in Home Invasions

On September 27, 2011, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office responded to three residential home invasions: one in the Township of Excelsior on Mirror Lake Road, one in the Township of Dellona on Coon Bluff Road and one in the Township of Delton on HWY P.

As a result of an investigation by the Fergus Falls Police Department, Fergus Falls, MN and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, William J. Gajdik, age 38, of Lincoln, Nebraska has become the primary suspect in the burglaries in Sauk County. Gajdik was taken into custody by the Fergus Falls Police Department on October 4, 2011 on an arrest warrant for Burglary and Escape from Nebraska. Property from the burglaries in Sauk County was recovered in Gajdik’s possession when he was arrested.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office will be working with the victims here in Sauk County and with the Fergus Falls Police Department to continue to identify their property.

Gajdik has been extradited from Fergus Falls, MN to Dearborn County, Indiana where was wanted for attempted murder and other charges related to burglaries in Dearborn County while on his crime spree.

Sheriff Miester said, “My office will be requesting the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office to formally charge Mr. Gajdik with armed burglary, theft and criminal damage for the home invasions in Sauk County.”
