STH 78 Crash
On September 22, 2014 at approximately 12:10am the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a crash involving a car versus tree on STH 78 just north of Elma Ave. in the Township of Merrimac.
Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies, Merrimac Fire and First Responders, and Sauk Prairie Ambulance were immediately sent to the scene. Baraboo District Ambulance also responded to assist.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Buick Lacrosse, operated by Bryce McClung, age 24, of Merrimac, WI, was eastbound on STH 78 negotiating a curve. McClung lost control of his vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
McClung was flown from the scene to UW Hospital in Madison. McClung was not wearing a seat belt and speed was a factor in this crash. This incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
