Shooting Incident

March 16, 2011

On February 12, 2011, shortly after midnight the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office took a complaint of a subject with a gunshot wound to his leg that had come into the Reedsburg Area Medical Center for treatment. The initial officers investigation showed that while at a rural Reedsburg residence Jordan Sandstrom, age 20, of Reedsburg, WI had been examining a weapon belonging to Bryan Page, age 19, of Reedsburg when he was shot. Sandstrom and the witnesses reported that Sandstrom accidently dropped the weapon and that it discharged striking him in the leg.

As the investigation continued it was learned that Sandstrom and the witnesses had not been truthful to the initial officer. As a result of further investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, Detective Division, it was learned that a third person, Ashley N Angus, age 20 of Reedsburg, WI was actually handling the weapon when she pulled the trigger, discharging the weapon. As a result, Sandstrom was shot in the leg.

On March 15, 2011, Jordan Sandstorm, Bryan Page and Ashley N. Angus, age 20, of Reedsburg, WI were charged with Obstructing an Officer. Additionally, Ashley Angus was charged with Injury by Negligent Handling a Weapon. All parties were issued court notices to appear in Sauk County Circuit Court on April 27, 2011.

Obstructing an Officer is a Class a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 9 months or both. Injury by Negligent Handling of a Weapon is a Class I Felony, punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 3 years 6 months, or both.
