NEWS RELEASE

Prohibited Alcohol Concentration (PAC) 6TH Offense Arrest

On May 27, 2020 at approximately 6:25 p.m., a Sauk County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on County Highway W near Diamond Hill Road in the Town of Freedom.  The operator of the vehicle was Christopher L. Edwards, age 42, of Baraboo, Wisconsin.

During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy learned that Edwards had a revoked driver's license, was required to have an ignition interlock device (IID) installed on any vehicle he operated, was not to operate a vehicle with an alcohol concentration greater than .02, and was on supervision through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Community Corrections.  Edwards has 5 prior Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) convictions.

The investigation revealed that Edwards had been consuming alcohol and a preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration in excess of the permitted .02 level.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and suspected marijuana was located.  The vehicle was not equipped with an IID.

Edwards was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail for an Order to Detain for a parole violation issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.  Charges of Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration 6th Offense, Operating after Revocation (OWI related), Failure to Install IID, and Possession of THC have been referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.
