OWI 4th
On Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at approximately 1:14 AM a deputy with the Sauk County Sheriff''s Office came upon a vehicle stopped in the lane of traffic at the intersection of STH 23 and N Reedsburg Rd in the Town of Excelsior. When the deputy made contact with the operator, identified as Melvin M. Payne Jr, age 46 of Richland Center.
While speaking to the operator, the deputy detected signs of impairment. Payne was asked to submit to field sobriety testing and as a result of the testing was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, 4th offense. Those charges are being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office. Payne was transported to the Sauk County Jail and the vehicle was removed by Steve’s Towing.
