OWI #4, Felony Theft

On Saturday, March 18, 2023 at approximately 8:38 AM, the Sauk County Dispatch Center received a traffic complaint of a Toyota Solara that was being operated erratically, nearly striking on coming vehicles on South Avenue near the intersection with Herwig Road in the township of Delton. Additionally, it had been reported to the Reedsburg Police Department that a male was observed unresponsive behind the wheel of this vehicle in the City of Reedsburg shortly before Sauk County received the initial report. An officer from the Lake Delton Police Department was able to locate and stop the vehicle in the village of Lake Delton.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Joshua Lanthrip, age 33 of Mauston, WI. While speaking to the Lanthrip, deputies on scene observed signs of impairment.  Lanthrip was asked to submit to field sobriety testing and as result was arrested for Operating while Intoxicated - 4th offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Felony Bail-Jumping. Lanthrip was also issued multiple traffic citations as a result of this incident.

Lanthrip was the suspect in a retail theft from a business in the village of West Baraboo that occurred on Friday, March 17, 2023 and as a result of that investigation he was also charged with Felony Retail Theft – Intentionally Take (>$500-$5000). Lanthrip was transported to the Sauk County Jail and turned over to the custody of jail staff. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Lake Delton Police Department.
