OWI 10 Arrest

NEWS RELEASE – OWI 10TH ARREST

On June 11, 2016 at approximately 2:43 a.m. a Sergeant with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office observed a 1998 Chevrolet pickup traveling southbound on USH 12 negotiating the roundabout at CTH BD.  As the truck negotiated the curve in the roadway, the tires emitted a chirping sound as the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed for the road terrain.  The Sergeant followed the truck southbound on USH 12 and observed the truck deviate within its lane of travel and also cross the lane line which divides the two southbound lanes of USH 12.  The truck’s lane deviation caused another motorist to take evasive action as the truck entered the other motorist’s travel lane and occupied both lanes.  The truck did not have any registration lamps present.  A traffic stop was conducted on the truck on USH 12 near Hatchery Road in the Town of Baraboo.

The operator of the truck was identified as Shawn M. Sosinsky, age 47, of Plain, Wisconsin.  Sosinsky displayed signs of alcohol consumption and impairment.  Field sobriety tests were conducted on Sosinsky which provided evidence of impairment.  Sosinsky refused to submit to a preliminary breath test.  Sosinsky was subsequently arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 10th Offense.

Shawn M. Sosinsky was booked into the Sauk County Jail.  Sosinsky refused to submit to an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and a search warrant was authorized to obtain the sample.  Sosinsky remains incarcerated at the Sauk County Jail for the OWI 10th Offense citation as well as a Parole Hold from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.  Sosinky was also issued a citation for Unsafe Lane Deviation.
