One Vehicle Crash on North Avenue Results in Two Fatalities ***UPDATE 09/01/10***

                                                                       FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 28, 2010

On August 28, 2010 at approximately 4:44am, the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a motor vehicle crash on North Avenue just west of Oak Hill Road in the Township of Dellona.  Sheriff's Deputies, Reedsburg Fire and Reedsburg Ambulance were immediately sent to the scene.

Responders found a vehicle against a tree engulfed in flames.  Upon extinguishment of the fire two bodies were located inside the vehicle.  Both subjects were declared dead at the scene by the Sauk County Coroner's Office.

The initial investigation revealed the vehicle was operating eastbound on North Avenue at a very high rate of speed.  The vehicle crested a hill when the operator lost control.  The vehicle slid sideways into the north ditch and came to rest against a tree where it burst into flames.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  Speed appears to be a factor in this crash and alcohol and seatbelt use is unknown at this time.  This incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Department and Sauk County Coroner's Office.
