Middleton Man Drowns in the Wisconsin River - UPDATE

On July 12, 2012 at 8:51 P.M., the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a possible drowning at Pecks Landing, HWY 23 at the Wisconsin River in Spring Green Township. It was reported that a group of people were wading in the river when one subject went under and did not re-surface.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Spring Green Police Department, Spring Green Fire Department and the Spring Green Ambulance Service were immediately dispatched to the scene. During the investigation it was learned that four individuals had been wading in the river when the 22 year old male from Middleton, WI, stepped into a deeper section of the river and went under the water. The investigation revealed that he was unable to swim.

During the search of the area by the Sauk County Dive Team and the Spring Green Fire Department the body of the 22 year old male was located.

The Sauk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Spring Green Police Department, Spring Green Fire and EMS Departments and also the Sauk County Dive Team. The investigation continues by the Sauk County Sheriff's Office as well as the Sauk County Coroner's Office. The name of the victim is pending release until notification of family members has been made.
