LaValle Man Charged With Sexual Assault

***Special News Release***

On 07/10/2011, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was asked to respond to a residence on Main Street in the City of Reedsburg to assist the Reedsburg Police Department with a sexual assault that had been reported to them but actually occurred in Sauk County. Information received from the Reedsburg Police Department was that a 21 year old was having sexual contact with a 13 year old in the LaValle area.

Upon interviewing both parties involved in the sexual contact they both confessed to having sexual intercourse the day before. Emry Karstetter, age 21, of LaValle, was arrested for 2nd degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

If convicted of this Class C felony, the penalty is a fine of up to $100,000, or imprisonment of up to 40 years, or both; however, for a repeat offender, the term of imprisonment may increase up to 2 years with prior misdemeanor convictions, and up to 6 years with a prior felony conviction.
