House Fire/Explosion

On May 17, 2016 at approximately 8:07 pm the Sauk County Communication Center was notified of a possible house fire/explosion on West Maple Street in the Village of Lime Ridge.  It was reported that a 50 year old man was injured in the explosion and suffered burns to his hands, chest and face.  The investigation revealed that the man was attempting to light some sort of propane heater in the basement of the house after the pilot light had gone out.  Gas had leaked from the heater and pooled in the basement and had ignited causing the explosion.  The injured man was flown to UW Hospital in Madison by UW Medflight.  The other occupant of the residence was not injured.

Hillpoint Fire Department, Loganville Fire Department, Hillpoint First Responders, Reedsburg Ambulance along with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department and UW Med Flight were called to the scene.

This matter remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
