Home Invasion in Township of Freedom - UPDATE

Special News Release

November 30, 2010

On November 30, 2010, at approximately 8:55 AM the Sauk County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a home invasion on Happy Hill Road in the Township of Freedom, Sauk County. The caller reported a lone male armed with a knife had attempted to force his way into the residence.

Upon arrival of the Sheriff’s Deputies it was learned that a male subject had come to the door of the residence requesting to use the phone. The female occupant denied the request and the subject attempted to force his way into the home. The suspect slashed at the woman with a knife cutting the outer layer of her coat. She was able to force the door closed and the male left the scene in what was reported as a blue Toyota four door car heading west on Happy Hill Road. The woman was transported to St. Clare Hospital by Baraboo Ambulance Service with minor injuries.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Sauk County Highway Department, Baraboo Ambulance Service. The investigation is continuing by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

During subsequent interviews with the reporting party, she admitted that she fabricated that someone was attempting to enter her home stating the event did not occur.  At this time there are no charges.
