FATAL CRASH – TOWN OF DELLONA

On December 3, 2020 at approximately 2:10 p.m., the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a two vehicle traffic crash on County Highway H at County Highway P in the Town of Dellona.  Sauk County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Reedsburg Fire Department, and the Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service were immediately sent to the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Toyota Highlander had been traveling west on CTH P and was at the intersection with CTH H.  The Toyota was attempting to turn west onto CTH H.  A 2015 Western Star dump truck was traveling eastbound on CTH H.  The Toyota turned into the path of the oncoming dump truck.  Despite an attempted avoidance maneuver by the operator of the dump truck, the two vehicles collided with the front of the dump truck striking the driver’s side of the Toyota.

The operator and sole occupant of the Toyota, Ronald B. Kannenberg, age 59, of rural Wonewoc, WI, died at the scene.  The operator of the dump truck, Raymond F. Johnson, age 53, of La Valle, WI, was not injured in the crash.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Reedsburg Fire Department, Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service, the Sauk County Coroner’s Office, Platt’s Towing, and Zeman’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
