Durwards Glenn Crash

On Saturday, July 17, 2011, at about 5:15 am, the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a one vehicle rollover on Durwards Glen Road in the township of Greenfield. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, Baraboo Fire Department, and Baraboo District Ambulance Service were all dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival of responding the units, the operator, Joshua T. Steinhorst, age 18, of Baraboo, WI, was found to be semi responsive and had been ejected from the vehicle. He was transported from the scene by Med Flight to UW Hospital in Madison.

The investigation found that the vehicle, a 1998 Ford truck, was being operated westbound on Durwards Glen Road and drifted off the left side of the road. Subsequently, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and rolled over in a field.

The matter remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department. Steinhorst was not wearing a seat belt and speed and alcohol are factors in the crash. Steinhorst has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated 1st Offense.
