CTH A Motorcycle Crash

On July 31, 2020 at approximately 9:03pm the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH A and CTH U in the Township of Fairfield.  It was initially reported to be a car versus motorcycle crash.

Sauk County Sheriff’s Deputies, Baraboo Fire Department and Baraboo District Ambulance were sent to the scene.  Responders discovered that this was a single motorcycle crash and no other vehicles were involved.

The operator, and lone occupant of the motorcycle, was ejected and found laying in the ditch.  He was transported to St. Clare Hospital by Baraboo Ambulance and then to UW Hospital in Madison by UW Medflight Helicopter.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle was eastbound on North Reedsburg Road at a high rate of speed.  The operator failed to stop for the stop sign at North Reedsburg Road and CTH A.  The motorcycle struck a bump in the roadway causing the operator to lose control.  The motorcycle rolled over and the operator was ejected.

The operator was not wearing a helmet and alcohol appears to be a factor.  The name of the operator is not being released at this time.  This crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Baraboo Fire Department, Baraboo District Ambulance and the Sauk County Highway Department.
