NEWS RELEASE

CTH A / N. REEDSBURG ROAD – 3 VEHICLE CRASH

On September 9, 2017 at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a three-vehicle collision on CTH A near North Reedsburg Road in the Town of Fairfield.  The initial report was that one of the vehicles had overturned.  Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, the Baraboo Fire Department, and ambulances from the Baraboo District Ambulance Service and Dells-Delton Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2007 Mazda CX-7, operated by a 17-year-old female from rural Baraboo, was stopped in the northbound lane of CTH A waiting to turn left into a private driveway.  A 2005 Nissan Altima, operated by Amanda N. Rotar, age 25 of Wisconsin Dells, was traveling northbound on CTH A.  Rotar’s vehicle collided with the rear of the stopped Mazda.  The impact caused the Mazda to enter the southbound lane where it struck a southbound 2000 Jeep Wrangler operated by Brian J. Holloway, age 53 of rural Baraboo.  The Jeep overturned after the collision with the Mazda.

The occupants of the Jeep were both transported by ambulance to St. Clare Hospital.  Rotar was transported by ambulance to St. Clare Hospital and later transported by UW Med Flight to UW Hospital.  None of the injuries appear to be life threatening.  The occupants of the Mazda and Jeep were wearing seatbelts.  Rotar was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Baraboo Fire Department, Dells-Delton Ambulance Service, Baraboo District Ambulance Service, Mike’s Towing, and Bill’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
