Area Teens Charged with Felony Criminal Damage to Property

Special News Release

On June 3, 2011, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a criminal damage complaint on STH 33 in the Township of Greenfield. Sometime after 11:00 p.m. the previous night, the house and a truck parked in the yard were spray painted with vulgarities in yellow and green spray paint. The damage was estimated to be between $50,000 and $60,000.

Through further investigation it was learned there had been some harassment issues going on between one of the residents at this house and three other teenage girls. This criminal damage was a result of that harassment.

As a result of the investigation, Amanda Lindahl, age 17, of Merrimac and Marissa McDevitt, age 17, of Baraboo were charged with Felony Criminal Damage to Property. Another juvenile was referred to the Department of Human Services for Felony Criminal Damage to Property.

If convicted of a Class I Felony, the penalty is a fine of up to $10,000, or imprisonment of up to 3-1/2 years, or both.
