Midterm Assessment Press Release

On April 28, 2011, the Sauk County Board of Supervisors will be meeting in special session at the R.G. Brown Theatre on the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo / Sauk County campus. This mid-term assessment is held in off election years and is a forum to identify strategic issues for county government. This will be in preparation for the beginning of budgetary discussions at the department level.

As a prelude to the discussion, the board will hear from Todd Berry of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, who will provide a long-range view of economic issues at the state and national level that will affect the county and other local units of government. It is expected that Mr. Berry’s topics will be useful to elected officials at all local levels. Following Mr. Berry’s presentation there will also be a panel of representatives from the local business community, who will speak to the pressures that they are facing in the private sector, and measures they have implemented to address emerging issues.

With the historic and unprecedented happenings at the state and federal level during the past months, there is probably no better time or greater need for this dialog. It is hoped that this will provide a forum for citizens in Sauk County to gather and hear about issues, and opportunities that are facing us all.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend. A calendar of the budgetary meetings and other budget information is available on our website.
