Each year, preventable injuries kill children in Sauk County. This is a problem we can fix.  

 

Safe Kids Sauk County meets quarterly. Please join us!

The mission of Safe Kids Sauk County is to reduce unintentional childhood injuries through a multifaceted strategy of public awareness, education, public policy advocacy and community action. Our focus areas:

  • Child passenger safety:
    • Contact us for free car seat safety checks, now available virtually by video chat and at various locations throughout Sauk County. Click here for more information.
    • Baraboo Children’s Museum: Car seat checks every 3rd Friday from 9:30a-11:30a; no appointment needed! Also receive 50% off admission that day for getting seat checked.
    • Car seats/boosters are available for eligible families; call 608-355-3290 for more information.
  • Other safety: 
    • Child Safety education/booth at Community Fairs.
    • Safety items such as gun locks, CO2/smoke alarms, medication lock boxes, and more may be available throughout the year. Please call for more information.
    • Rural Safety Days annually in May: all third graders come to the Sauk County Fairgrounds to learn about different safety topics. 
    • Cribs for Kids program: provides Pack and Plays to families in need, along with education on safe sleep. 
    • Water Safety: life jacket loaner board located at Whitemound County park.
    • Helmet Heroes Program: rewards are available for kids practicing safe behavior such as wearing a helmet when riding a bike.
