Special Meeting
DATE: September 15, 2009
Committee Members Present: Ashford, Gaalswyk, Netzinger, Lehman, and Cassity.
Others Present: Mark Steward, Marty Krueger,and Kathy Schauf.
Cassity called the special meeting to order at 5:45 P.M. and staff certified compliance with the open meetings law.
Motion by Cassity, seconded by Ashford to adopt the agenda. Motion carried 5-0.
Mark Steward, Planning and Zoning Director, appeared and gave the background of the resolution and the how the cuts from the State will affect not only the department and its function, but the critical impact it will have on property owners that own or intend to own a POWTS.
Cassity felt that the County should not be telling the State what to do and possibly a move by the union could preserve jobs.
Schauf stated she felt that the County should not dictate to the State their jobs and believes it would be better served for the WCA take a stance on this issue.
Krueger questioned if taking action is in the best interest of the County.
Motion by Netzinger, seconded by Cassity, to withdraw the resolution. Motion carried 3-2 with Lehman and Gaalswyk in opposition.
Motion by Gaalswyk, seconded by Netzinger to adjourn. Motion carried, 5-0.
