Property & Insurance Committee Minutes

Others Present: Timothy Stieve, Carl Gruber, Elizabeth Geoghegan, Marty Krueger, Kathy Schauf, Bill McClary, Megan Marshall

1. Meeting called to order by Hartje at 8:00 a.m. Certificate of Compliance with Open Meeting Law was met.
2. Adopt Agenda: Motion by Dippel, second by Montgomery to approve agenda. Carried.
3. Adopt draft minutes of February 9th, 2009: Motion by Volz, second by Montgomery to approve minutes. Carried.
4. Public Comment - No public Comment
5. Communications:
   • Request by Baraboo Area Senior Citizen to sell pizza and soda during concerts on the square in 2009. Motion by Montgomery, second by Dippel to approve. Carried.
   • Request by Circus World Inc. to use Courthouse Square on May 23rd, 2009 . Motion by Volz, second by Posewitz. Carried.
   • Request by Baraboo Kiwanis Club to place a sign on the Courthouse lawn one week prior to the following events: March Pancake Breakfast, May Rose Sale, June Golf Outing and September TV/Radio Auction. Motion by Dippel, second by Posewitz. Carried.
6. Business Items:
   • Treasurer's Report - Elizabeth Geoghegan informed the committee that 132 properties still have 2005 taxes not paid. This information was forwarded to title companies. In April certified letters will be sent to owners/banks.
   • Kathy Schauf, Bill McClary and Marty Krueger updated the committee on the continued discussion of the demolition of the old Health Care Center. Bill McClary discussed debris destruction, lead testing and asbestos plan for the Health Care Center. Marty Krueger was contacted by ADCI of Lake Delton about possible reuse of the Health Care Center building. There was a request by the renters at the farm house and the administrator's house to extend their lease until 10/01/09. The committee discussed that would be too late and a new date of 09/01/09 was set for the end of the lease. Motion by Montgomery, second by Volz to extend the lease of the farmhouse and administrator's house to 09/01/09. Carried. Marty Krueger also stated that he will bring up the possibility of the Reedsburg Historical Society moving the firehouse at their next meeting in April.
7. Departmental Updates - Risk Management (Carl Gruber)
   • Monthly Report was given. Motion by Montgomery, second by Dippel to approve monthly report. Carried.
   • Reviewed deductibles. Motion by Dippel, second by Posewitz to approve deductibles in the amount of $3,500. Carried.
   Departmental Updates - Buildings & Safety (Tim Stieve)
   • Monthly Report was given.
   • Tim Stieve asked the committee if they would like to go forward on the sale of the shelter care building with sealed bids. Motion by Volz, second by Posewitz to go forward on the sale of the shelter care building with sealed bids. Carried.
   • A resolution for the 2009 Phone Upgrade was presented by Tim Stieve. Motion by Montgomery, second by Volz to approve said resolution. Carried.
   • Review and Approval of Vouchers - Motion by Montgomery, second by Posewitz to approve report and vouchers totaling $634,229.71. Carried.
8. Next Meeting date: Regular meeting was set for April 6th, 2009 @ 8:00 a.m.
9. Adjourn: Motion by Volz, second by Dippel to adjourn. Carried.
