The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Stoeckmann. Certification of the open meeting law was noted.

Moved by Haugen, second by Brown to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Moved by Stehling second by Brown, to adopt the minutes of the September 9, 2009 Public Health Board meeting. Motion carried.

Communications: Bodendein distributed “Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Response and Containment Plan”

Public Comment: None

Business Items for Discussion and/or Action:

  1. Moved by Haugen, second by Stehling to go into closed session pursuant to Wisc. Stats. 19.85 (1) (c) employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the government body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Performance evaluation of Director/Health Officer.
  2. Moved by Haugen and second by Stehling to reconvene in open session.
  3. Bodendein presented an update on the cost and trends in interpreter services for the last 5 years.
  4. Bodendein presented an update of activities that the Health Department is pursuing regarding education of schools, businesses and the general public on the H1N1 flu. Discussion surrounded the complexity of vaccination plans for H1N1 influenza A. Federal dollars have been awarded to Health Departments to offset the cost of the H1N1.

Department updates:

  1. Financial and monthly reports reviewed.
  2. Motion by Stehling and seconded by Brown to approve the September 2009 invoices of $20,777.02. Motion carried.
  3. WPHA/WALHDOB Legislative Update by Haugen

Agenda Items for next meeting:

  1. H1N1 Update.
  2. Strategies for retaining the home care program and the effects of the program on other programs in the county.

Next meeting date: November 11, 2009 5:30 p.m. Possible cancellation of November meeting due to H1N1 clinics.

Motion by Brown and seconded by Stehling to adjourn. Motion carried. The time was 7:00 p.m.

After the meeting an informal tour was held to view the EOC room for the H1N1 plans.
